The Product page in the admin area features an Advanced View that provides users with the ability to select what product fields are displayed on the Product page and the ability to edit multiple fields for multiple products at the same time on the Product page.

Advanced View

By default, the Product page in your account will display the following fields:

Actions

Images

Assigned_product_id

Vendor_product_id

Name Price

Price

Suppliers may select the fields that are displayed on the Products page by enabling Advanced View on their Product page. After you have logged in to your account, click the Product tab on your account homepage. On the Product page, place a check in the Advanced View box on the right side of the Products page and click the gray Update View button. The page will refresh and there will be a new Fields list below the Advance View box on the right side of the page. You may then place a check in the View box next to any additional field(s) you wish to have displayed on the Product page. You can also remove the checkmark from any default field that you don’t wish to view on the Product page. After you have completed your selections, click the gray Update View button to see the changes applied to your Product page.

Enable Editing

The Advanced View will also allow you to edit product fields from the Products page. To enable editing you will leave a check in the Advanced View box, place a check in the Enable Editing field and then click the gray Update View button. The page will refresh and there will be a new fields list that will allow you to select Edit, View or Skip for the product fields on the right side of the page. You will first want to place a check in the Edit box for any product fields that you will editing, then place a check in either the View or Skip box for any fields that you won’t be editing, or don’t wish to view, and click the gray Update View button below the fields list. The page will then refresh and any fields that you had checked Edit for will now be able to be edited on the Product page. Please note, if you don’t place a check in Edit, View or Skip for a field, that field will not be displayed on the Product page after you click the Update View button. After you have edited the field(s) for the product(s) that required the change, click the gray Save Product Changes button listed on the left side of the page under your products list. The page will then refresh and an “All updates succeeded” message will be displayed in the top left side of the page.

Creating products can be time consuming which is why we provide the ability to upload all products at one time through our product upload feature. The product upload tool can be accessed on the Products tab followed by the Upload sub-category. Before you can upload your products a properly formatted CSV or PSV file will need to be created.

When creating your file remember the number of fields used per line is 13. Each field is separated with a comma or pipe and each line must have no more or less than 13 separator. When using a CSV, product names and descriptions are common offenders to this rule as they sometimes include extra commas so we suggest creating a PSV file to handle these situations.

Listed below are the fields that will need entered for each product along with the maximum length in characters for that field.

Product ID:
This is the unique ID that you use to identify your product. 64 char max.

Name:
This is the name that will be used for your product and will be displayed to the customer in our purchase routine. 128 char max.

Inventory:
This field is not currently used by the 2Checkout system and may be set to any non-negative number, including zero, or left blank. 9 char max.

Price:
This should be a positive number representing the price of your product in the currency used by your 2Checkout account. No currency symbol should be used in the field itself. Valid examples are ‘100′ and ‘100.00′. 8 char max.

Weight:
This is the weight of your product used to calculate a shipping charge using your weight-based shipping methods. Only numbers should be used in this field. 4 char max.

Handling Charge:
This is an optional handling charge to be added on a per-product basis. No currency symbol should be used in the field itself. 4 char max.

Tangible:
Whether this product is a physical item (ie. clothing) or intangible (ie. software or services). Represented with a 1 for tangible or 0 for intangible. 1 char max.

Description:
This is a short description of your product that will display on your Order Page or when the item is added to a shopping cart. It’s easy to add an unintentional comma in this field, so check your descriptions. 255 char max.

Start Up Fee:
This is an additional fee to be used for recurring services. This must be a non-negative number, although it can be changed to a negative value after upload to represent a discount on the first billing cycle. No currency symbol should be used in the field itself. 4 char max.

Pending URL:
The Pending URL field is no longer used and may be left blank as 2Checkout no longer offers e-check as a payment method.

Approved URL:
This is the URL your customer will be returned to after a successful order. This must be a full URL starting with http://. It can be left blank to use the URL specified in your account’s Site Management tab. 128 char max.

Recurrence:
This specifies the length between billing cycles (how often to charge a customer). Entries should contain a number followed by Week, Month or Year. Examples are 1 Month (once a month) or 4 Year (four times a year). There must be a space between the number and the word. Also, the word must start with a capital letter (see examples above). 32 char max.

Duration:
This specifies how long to continue billing a customer. This should be formatted in the same method as Recurrence but can alternatively be set to Forever to continue billing until canceled. Keep in mind that, while 4 Year in the recurrence field means bill four times per year, in the duration field this means continue billing for four years. 32 char max.

Below you will find the first three lines of a working CSV and PSV file. The first product example is a simple tangible product that costs 1.00. The second product example is a recurring intangible product that will bill for 10.00 every month for two years with a 15.00 setup fee on the first installment. A custom approved URL has also been set for this product. The last product example is a tangible product that costs 100.00, weighs 10 units of measurement, and has a 5.00 handling charge.

CSV Example

EX01,Example One,,1.00,,,1,My first sample product.,,,,,,
EX02,Example Two,,10.00,,,0,Another sample product.,15.00,http://www.example.com/script/pending.php,http://www.example.com/script/approved.php,1 Month,2 Year,
EX03,Example Three,,100.00,10,5.00,1,The final sample product.,,,,,,

PSV Example

EX01|Example One||1.00|||1|My first sample product.||||||
EX02|Example Two||10.00|||0|Another sample product.|15.00|http://www.example.com/script/pending.php|http://www.example.com/script/approved.php|1 Month|2 Year|
EX03|Example Three||100.00|10|5.00|1|The final sample product.||||||

Once the file has been created, you can upload the file by logging into your account, clicking the Products tab and then selecting the Upload subtab. From here you can click the Browse button next to the File field to select the file you wish to upload, select the file type and click the Submit Form button to upload your products. If any errors are detected in your file we will be list them in red below the Submit Form button and no products will be uploaded.

You can use our developers.2Checkout area to see how to use the Plug-n-Play parameter set for creating links with multiple products within one link. The Purchase Machine section will allow you to create sample purchase links using the various parameter sets.

You may provide your customers with access to the download or service they have purchased immediately after the sale by providing the URL for the download or login page in your account. If you are selling a downloadable product or service, you may provide the URL as the approved URL at either the product or account level. The customer can be directed to your download one of 3 ways. When the Return Method is set to “Given Links back to my website”, the customer will need to click a button listed as “Click here to Finalize your Order” to “Immediately Returned to my Website”, your approved URL page will be fetched and displayed to the customer while they remain on 2Checkout’s server. This also has the effect of masking the URL used so that the customer appears to still be on the 2Checkout domain. It is important to note that because of the way this method works, you must return the customer to a web page that includes an absolute link to your download and outputs at least 255 characters. When the Return Method is set to “Header Redirect”, the customer will be immediately redirected to your approved URL. If your approved URL is just the path to your file you will want to use either the “Given Links back to my website” or “Header Redirect” methods as the “Immediately Returned to my Website” method will not prompt the customer to download.

If you will only have one approved URL for your products or services you may provide that URL at the account level by clicking the Account tab on your account home page and then clicking the Site Management sub tab. On the Site Management page you will enter the URL in the approved URL field at the bottom of the page and then click the Save Changes button.

If you are selling multiple products or services that will have different approved URL you will need to provide the URL at the product level. This way if a customer orders multiple products that have separate download paths they will be provided with a download link for each product on the order review page. You may provide the approved URL when creating your products, or you may edit the approved URL on your existing products. To create a product in your account you will need to click the Products tab and then click the Create sub tab on the Products page. To edit an existing product you will click the Products tab and then click the edit icon listed under Actions for the product you are editing. Please be certain to click the Save Changes button when editing products.

ORDERING A SINGLE PRODUCT VS. ORDERING MULTIPLE PRODUCTS WITH DIRECT RETURN:

The order process works in the following manner when the Return Method is set to “Given links back to my website“.

If no approved URL has been specified in your account, the customer’s order will end at the 2Checkout order confirmation page. You are then responsible for supplying the customer with the product.

If a single product is ordered, the return method will return the customer to your specified approved URL. This is only true if you have specified an approved URL at the product section or the Site Management page in your account. The approved URL’s at the product level will always override the URL’s set up on the Site Management page in your account. 2A. If multiple products are ordered, the return method will work exactly the same as if a customer orders a single product. This is only true if you have specified the approved URL only on Site Management page in your account.

If the customer orders a single product and you have specified the approved URL at the product level, the customer will be returned to the URL indicated at the product level.	3A. If multiple products are ordered and you have set up approved URLs at the product level, the order process ends at the	2Checkout order confirmation page. At this page, there will be a “Click here to access your product” link for each product that will direct the customer to the approved URL for that product. Since the customer ordered multiple products, this page will not close until it is manually closed by the customer. This way the customer will receive all the downloads or will be forwarded to all the correct URLs to receive their downloads.

**Useful Info

To add an approved URL to the Site Management page in your account, you can click on Account tab and then select the Site Management subtab.
