However, in recent weeks, the list was carefully reviewed and revised. Many product categories once prohibited for sale are now permitted. A number of the products regularly mentioned in forums including auction sites, banner advertisements, and social/community websites are now permissible. Additionally, the recent audit also upgraded fantasy leagues, and adult toys and novelties from the prohibited list, providing a number of new verticals access to 2Checkout. Protecting a business from fraud is expensive, but most business owners will tell you adequate protection is worth every dime. 2Checkout requires all businesses (U.S. and International) to pay a nominal, one-time $49 USD sign up fee to help cover the labor and technology costs associated with processing the sign up and validating the website, business, and products sold. Unlike private merchant accounts and other e-commerce solutions on the market, 2CO charges this fee once and never recoups technology and labor expenses through expensive monthly fees, statement fees, service fees, or gateway fees.
