New Single Page Checkout Announced

2Checkout.com, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of our new Single Page Checkout process.

Many of our clients have been asking for a faster, more efficient, customer experience. We heard those requests and are now happy to deliver the fastest checkout possible for clients that produce intangible goods/services.

To maximize compatibility, all current 2CO parameter sets are supported.

To maximize efficiency, only intangible products and credit card payments are enabled with this routine.

To address the needs of clients who produce tangible goods and those who want to benefit from all the alternative payment options 2CO accepts, the traditional multi-page checkout process will remain as the default.

This new single page purchase routine may be used with the PNP and third party cart parameter sets, by simply replacing the default purchase routine with this one:

https://www.2checkout.com/checkout/spurchase

Click here to see a working demonstration.

We are confident that the new routine will streamline the checkout process for appropriate offerings and therefore increase conversion rates. 2CO will monitor conversion results closely. It is also recommended that each client evaluate their individual results independently.

Trying to use the demo link.

Entered the billing details and credit card info. I assume using fake data is ok since the sale is demo.

Hit ‘Checkout’ and the same page reloads. No error messages shown. There is no way to checkout.

Tried with different details, with Firefox and IE6. Not working.

this text “Format: First Middle Last” should be spread out through the all fields and not everything placed just below First field.
It might confuse people.

And where did PayPal option go ?

The single page check out screen is a scaled down version that only allows customers to pay for intangible goods with credit cards. If you’d still like to give the customers the option of paying with PayPal, I’d recommend continuing to use the traditional Checkout.

And please no banners on top it can divert my clients to someone else, I don’t like that. Unless each and every one of us can put on this checkout(our) page our banner (for free of course). Afterall we are paying for 2CO services so that alone should be enough not have someone elses banners.

The Acme logo that is displayed on the demo page is for our demo store. You can set up your own by logging into the new vendor area and clicking on Account then Site Management.

I think I agree with dadly. I don’t like the giant 2CO logo at the top of the page. If you would get rid of that blue bar at the top of the page (with the exception of the flags) I’d be a happier person.

On 800×600 that top blue portion is almost 33% of the page!

This looks promising! I am selling only intangible products and this checkout page looks more adaptive to my needs, not saying it is more comfortable than the current version with few steps!

dadly: I think PayPal option will not be available for this kind of process… it is written above “To maximize efficiency, only intangible products and credit card payments are enabled with this routine.” The banners you are writing about, are not related to 2CO… it is a demo sale and I suppose “Acme Books” is a test company to show how it could look with your company’s title and logo (there was a recent issue about Vendor Purchase Logos).

Why do you think the text “Format: First Middle Last” should confuse people? I think many of us are too much carrying about people confuse… you don’t need to think everybody around you is a complete idiot; I WANT my customers to be smart people… with smart people there is less problems afterall. But there is a lot of problems with idiots.

So I have no claims to 2CO regarding this text :-) Anyway if there will be even an improvement it is not critical. The overall look is nice and I would give it a go with my website when it will be ready.

One thing I would still recommend to improve: the Vendor logo should not have an empty space between the title and logo. Currently, there is a big space between the title “ACME Online Books” and the logo itself. It doesn’t look good.

Anything else… I am for it!

Same issue here:

If you enter the single page purchase using demo the page will not allow you to check out at this time. Clicking checkout will reload the page.

It will allow customers to checkout when you are not in demo mode.

I have set this up with my account, however I see no “CONTINUE SHOPPING” button? Am I missing something here? A ‘continue shopping’ button is a necessity.

The continue shopping button will appear on this page. Be sure you are not passing the fixed parameter with a value of Y. This will remove the Continue Shopping button.

This is a great improvement. However I may not use it due to the following reasons:

1. Paypal/echeck has been removed.

2. The page only shows VISA / MASTERCARD logos. Do the other types of cards work?

Thanks

Visa and MasterCard support multiple currencies, whereas the other cards are US Dollar only. If the currency is set to something other than USD, something that changes according to your IP address, only the Visa and MasterCard logos will show up. Click on the US flag at the top, and the rest should show up.

Actually, my currency was set to US but only the VISA and Master logos were showing.

When I clicked the US flag, the others DID show up but why not initially?

Fantasic! Good, PayPal removed !!!!!!!!!I am still hoping 2CO will allow us to modify the background color as in good old days. I hope the conversion rate will go back to normal. The only problem is I can test it to see if it really works. I received only one order through 2CO in February. The rest came via PayPal (not PayPal via 2CO). How about increasing the size of our logo to 500 x 100? It would look much better.

It works great but I just found a bug (perhaps?). If you are using the traditional checkout pages and reach the credit card information step and hit the back button, it takes you to the single page checkout where as the whole process was going through the multi page checkout.

Shouldn’t the location of the “Choose Your Currency and Save” be located lower down just before the Order Summary. The way it is set up now it appears as though it’s part of the header section and not part of the check out process. Have different versions of the single check out page gone through a series of usability and interface tests to determine which is the best?

Is it possible for the State field to read Province for Canadian customers? You are using the term Postal Code which is a term Canadians will recognize so why can’t you use Province instead of State. Please clarify.

“To maximize efficiency, only intangible products and credit card payments are enabled with this routine.”

PayPal removed - what a great efficiency maximization! :) IMO this short purchase routine doesn’t make any sence without PayPal. I sell intangible goods through some other payment processor that uses single page checkout + accepts credit cards + PayPal. Over 25% of my sales now coming from PayPal.

When I first found the info about 2CO’s single page checkout I planned switching to 2CO immediately. But what we have now? Two options:

1. Single page checkout but without PayPal = lower conversion than I have currently.
2. Two pages checkout with PayPal = also lower conversion than I have currently.

Why don’t you just add PayPal to this short checkout page?

One more thing: when I click this new single page checkout link, quantity increases with every click, so price increases too. Is there a way to stop this? For example add some parameter to the link that will hardcode it, like quantity=1 or remove quantity field completely along with “Update” button?

Internet people always in a hurry, clicking everything that can be clicked :) They may visit order page to see the price and then continue surfing the site, then visit order page again, see the doubled price and don’t make an order.

If this is a single page checkout and it is strictly for intangible products then what the point of increasing quantity with each click??? It seems like programmer who designed this page have no clue about what intangible product is and how it usually sells. Software is not a t-shirt and people order two or more copies EXTREMELY rare, I can’t even remember such case.
:)

This is an alternative to the default transaction process. If you would like to use PayPal, the default transaction process will allow you to do so. Adding PayPal to this transaction process would, unavoidably, increase the number of pages. This isn’t to say there won’t be other alternatives that may include other payment options in the future, but for the time being, the goal of this one is to remain as a single page. You will have to weigh the value of using the single page purchase routine against the value of accepting payment options other than credit cards.

Countless intangible products/services require the ability to change quantity. For example, many software packages require a per user license. Our programmers understand this, so we provide our suppliers with a choice. If you would like to fix the quantity to one and prevent the customer from changing it, just pass the “fixed” parameter with a value of “Y”. (More info.)

Hi all,
If “Hacker Safe” to be displayed on single page checkout, then I’d suggest that it be updated to more recent date than shown now.

Thank you.

Hi Cliff,
It is great to see that you guys are working on improving the checkout process! I have to agree with the previous comments about paypal. We only sell intangible goods and after switching to 2checkout our sales dropped and the feedback that we received from our customers was that they did not feel comfortable with the new checkout system and wanted paypal back. We were relieved when you guys added the paypal option, but after further feedback from our customers, they still found that the entire process was far to complicated compared to other vendors.

Albeit the new layout is not perfect, its a damn site better than the old one (even just testing was painful) and we would really like to make our checkout process as simple to use as possible.

Can you let us know when we can expect to have this option in the new checkout? A simple radio option would suffice - select payment method (mastercard / visa / paypal) then when selected the below payment details box is loaded with either the CC info fields or a paypal “pay now” button.

Just my 5 cents…

Cheers,
Chris

Is there anyway to specify this page as default? I cannot change the purchase routine.

I use 1shoppingcart and the only variable I set is my sellerid. I would much, much, much prefer this to appear when my clients checkout.

Unfortunately, there is no way to choose this routine in the admin panel. It’s only available manually. I will pass your suggestion on for our developers to consider, though.

Whether this functionality gets added to your 2CO admin or not, the ability to switch between purchase routines could be added to your cart. You may want to contact your cart maker to request this as well.

I have submitted this request to 1shoppingcart and been given a similar answer. A promise to look into it, but perhaps ask 2checkout.

I don’t want to appear pushy, but something like this I’d imagine would not be all that difficult to implement and make a huge difference for people in a similar situation. I’d hate to think of the revenue lost from too many steps associated with 1shoppingcart integration. Is there any way to maybe push this along?

We have passed your request to our developers for their consideration. Unfortunately, I cannot estimate when/if this change will be made. They’re currently working on some high-priority projects, but I’ll see what I can do.
