2CO wants your help designing our new integrated affiliate program.
About a month ago, a 2CO community member started a thread in the forums asking if 2Checkout would consider an integrated affiliate network. It was good timing, because we are. We’re currently researching the possibilities and would love to get some feedback from our suppliers and the public at large.
This is currently a high priority for our developers, so now is a great time to take advantage of this opportunity. The more information you can provide, the better. We’d love to know exactly what you want from a 2CO affiliate program, so no detail is too small.
You can follow the affiliate program discussion in the forums or leave your suggestions as a comment to this post.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Cliff – Sounds like a good idea. If you can somehow make it open w/ a plugin to support other processors that would be even better.
There’s a ton of features the networks and platforms have, but don’t let it bog you down. Surveying the merchants and affiliates is the best way to get a start on what’s needed.
Feel free to visit http://www.affiliate-software-review.com to compare and sift through over 50 affiliate tracking systems, including clickbank…

Hi Cliff,
I think the biggest 4 factors that will make the affiliate program attractive to vendors and to their affiliates are:
1) Cookie system that cookies visitors entering a website through an affiliate link and credits the affiliate who referred the visitor for up to at least 2 months after the first visit – preferrably longer (as most product launches have a prelaunch stage which can be a month or longer before the actual launch and affiliates need to know they will be credited for sales of any pre-launch traffic they send).
2) 2C0 manage all of the affiliate payouts and deduct the commissions and pay the affiliates directly. This is the single biggest reason that people feel forced to stay with Clickbank for digital products. The payments are handled directly by Clickbank. Why is this such a selling point and why does it get people to stick with clickbank? For 3 key reasons:
a) No hassle on vendors part having to worry about missing commission payments or forgetting to pay an affiliate, or paying an affiliate late… and no hassle having to find ways to make the payment to affiliates.
b) No worry on affiliates part that commissions won’t be paid – or will be paid late etc.
c) For NON US based vendors, who mainly deal in US dollars and with US based affiliates – Payment to affiliates becomes a nightmare as they cannot write US dollar commission checks. So they are forced to use clickbank because they have no other way of paying the affiliate their commissions automatically without worrying about points (a) and (b) above. People have been looking for a non-costly alternative to clickbank for years.
3) Easy to sign up process for affiliates – no long lengthy forms to fill in (apart from payment details – which can be collected AFTER they have joined – Affiliates are lazy when it comes to filling out sign up forms to an affiliate program – but once signed up – they will readily fill any extra details in the affiliate back office).
4) A way for affiliates and vendors to monitor stats and for vendors to be able to sort affiliate sales by number of sales per affiliate per day, week and month etc.
And if you could automate payment to affiliates bank accounts as per your vendor accounts – Then you will have people abandoning Clickbank in droves and choosing C20 because they
These I believe are key things vendors would look at as necessary for them to consider changing their current affiliate program setup in favor of 2CO’s affiliate program.
I currently do sales in the thousands with my 2C0 account yet most of my sales are going through CLICKBANK because of the affiliate program.
However I and I know I speak for MANY other vendors would switch to 2C0’s affiliate program ANY day of the week if the above 4 points were a standard in 2CO’s affiliate program. Chiefly because 2CO pay vendors weekly directly to their bank accounts. Checks from Clickbank can take up to 8 weeks to clear in non US countries and often incur heavy bank charges in the process.
So please please please… take the above points into consideration. If you can implement them you will have a definite winner on your hands with your affiliate program, and I won’t have to send multi-thousand dollar launches like my forthcoming one http://www.themarketingnightmare.com to Clickbank when I can send that business your way instead and feel happier doing so too!
Thanks

Dear sirs,
Already I was a lot of years use your affiliate program and
I shall tell frankly, that only at you I receive the constant income. Thank you!
Earlier I have tried set of the various companies and for 5 years have not received from them cent.
Now I watch closely discussion concerning development of your affiliate program.
Frankly speaking, statements of some users and their offers guard me a little. In particular, it would not would be desirable that you went on services of translation of payments through Clickbank.com.
Till now, all earned at promotion of your product of means, you listed(transferred) me through wire transfer on my bank account and it is very convenient.
But if tomorrow suddenly to happen so, that all means earned by me, it is necessary to receive a kind of the check Clickbank.com most likely I shall cease to use your partner program.
Now about that it would be desirable to improve in your partner program:
- It would be desirable to see whence there come registered on mine referral link to the reference partners and to have an opportunity to contact them, to learn them to advance correctly your product. Now it is process passive and I can not know who have got your product through me.
For an example it would be desirable to familiarize with structure of the partner program at this company: http://www.2click.com/index.php At them very precisely it is visible whence to me there came potential buyers ?.? there is a full statistics.
- Very much frequently at you it is not clear why this or that sale costs(stands) very long time pending, a sheet expecting very big. At me, for example, pending considerations cost(stand) purchases which were carried out in April, 2007, and already June and not clearly these sales real silt. They have not passed through your payment system. It would be desirable that not past authorization of purchase were cleaned(removed) during one week.
This basic, that excites me in the partner program.
As to your new design of a site it has a little upset me… In my opinion your former design looked much presentably for such serious company as yours.
I hope that my advice as that will help you at decisions concerning improvement of the affiliate program and I hope as in the future I successfully with you shall cooperate and earn decent money.
Kindly,

Dear Cliff,
Waht a great new! I have some items i’d like to
have build in into the Affiliate system.
I’m from Argentina, and as you maybe will guess
we need an spanish language version of the entire AFF system.
Besides that, there a MAIN concerned if I make a comparation
with the actual clickbank’s affi prog.and that is the lack of
an opcion to have affiliates from several latinamerican countries Argentina for example.. we dont know WHY they do that.. there’s millions of this people interrested in affiliate to some website in orden to make a living online!
If you can bring that service that clickbank is avoiding.. well you know the huge earning possiblities for us as merchants and you too.
Avilos’s post has already covered other issues I was interrested in mention here.. please read them and have’em in mind when u design the system.. and please, dont take so long..we’re desperate and need this system As soon as possible!!!!
Kind regardsfor u all!

Hi Cliff,
This very exciting! We have been wracking our brains on how to setup our new affiliate program – specifically how to pay affiliates. Since we are based in South Africa and dont have paypal as an option, we have signed up for a 2CO account. The catch as it stands is how do we pay affiliates. If you guys are able to come up with a slick affiliate program, that would solve all our problems.
Any ideas when this system would be available?
Thanks,
Chris

In the near future. Unfortunately, I can’t provide a more precise estimate at this time.

Thanks for the input everyone. We definitely appreciate any and all suggestions.
We’re looking for some more specific info, too:
1. Minimum/Maximum commission guidelines;
2. Refund risk sharing (i.e. ability to recoup from affiliate any commission paid or the ability to do so);
3. Payout schedule for affiliates (i.e. majority of refunds occur within 60 days here at 2CO);
4. Additional language support (why stop at Spanish?);
etc…
We’re excited to finally be able to bring our vendors some overdue feature enhancements and the affiliate sales market seems tailor-made for our existing structure. We’re also happy to be able to track sales utilization (and referred sales utilization) in order to ensure that the risks to our vendor suppliers are minimal.
Look for an initial launch within a few months and, rest assured, we’ll keep on soliciting input to develop the program you want and need and which provides you with access to a truly global network of affiliate marketers.
Spread the news! We’d appreciate as much input as we can get.

Yes, an affiliate network is definitely a good idea, but I just want to note that even more important feature for 2CO is to enable sending/receiving money among its members, apart from the affiliate network system.
There are many affiliate program scripts and services, and someone would just want to send mass payments from their MLM or Network program, and would use their own tracking system. But sending/receiving payments accepted worldwide with no country restrictions is something that 2CO should work on.
As I stated in another one post, my opinion is that this feature is a KEY for expanding a 2CO business to the next level, and taking its own share on the market where PayPal dominates.
Thanks.

I agree with eutrade,
having the option to send money to other 2CO uses would be of great benefit to us and i am sure everyone else. Its the one area that paypal still dominates in…
Cheers,
Chris

I’m willing to help you with the translation if needed

It is extremely unlikely that 2CO will ever permit the transfer of funds between vendors outside of transaction methods. We are not a bank nor an MSP and have no intention of opening the regulatory can of worms that such a change would involve.
The list of potential liabilities and other issues is enormous — we have looked into it before.

All of 2CO will soon be available in Spanish. Cliff should be able to give everyone an update on the status of this project soon.

Hi Kristin,
Am i correct in understanding though that there would be an option to pay affiliates from the money sitting in our 2CO account? How do you guys see the program working? I know you are still gathering community input, but do you have a basic idea of how it would work? Also, will it be easy for various ecommerce engines to plugin the affiliate option? We are considering moving our shop over from Virtuemart on Joomla to a new cart called Digicart, but would still like to be able to take advantage of the 2CO affiliate program once it is launched..
Cheers,
Chris

Hi,
I think it would be already a help if you would add a link to the
seller account like yo have done with “Create Invoice” but this time it should be vice versa so sellers could send money through 2Co to their affiliates who have a 2Co account too.
Do you already have such plans?
Thanks,
Dirk
