Changes to the 2Checkout purchase pages took place today. Vendors selling e-goods will notice the first change. Once an entry for your product has been added, The 2Checkout system allows you to add a return URL where the customer can download the product. This feature is now working correctly when customers purchase 2 or more products at the same time. When a customer does this they will be presented the 2Checkout Order Confirmation page at the end of the purchase process. On this page a “Click Here to Access Your Good” link is presented below the description of each of the products that were purchased. These links will open in a new window so your customer can access each e-good that they purchased separately. Also included in this change are some fixes to the coupon system. Coupons can now be used on 3rd party cart sales and sales that use the fixed parameter with no side effects. Coupons will also have no adverse effects on the Direct Return setting of your account.

Hi guys,
This sounds great, but how does the fraud check apply? We’ve had loads of customers email us complaining about having to wait for the fraud check before they are able to access their downloads and from the sounds of it, this would be the perfect solution, but i am just unsure about how the fraud check takes place if they have direct access to the download once the purchase is complete.

PS, are there any plans to allow for a full integration service in the foreseeable future? We’ve had loads of feedback from our customers and 90% of them say its the checkout process (being taken away from the site) that is most off putting.

Chris,
If you provide downloadable products, you will need to make a decision about what is most important to you; immediate downloads for customer satisfaction or delayed downloads for your own risk mitigation. Our fraud review process is excellent, but that level of quality is not possible to deliver instantly.
Suppliers of downloadable goods must calculate their potential losses against their potential gains for either decision and adjust their prices accordingly. Many will decide that the sales gains from providing immediate downloads will more than make up for those transactions where the fraud review fails after the product was delivered. This will, at least partly, depend on the nature of the products you provide. Some products attract more fraud than others, so you will want to take that into consideration as well.
Allowing “full integrations” or offering an API is always a consideration. It’s not possible at the present time, but if this changes, we will be sure to post more information.

Thanks for the in depth reply. I understand your point about having to make the decision about whether to allow instant download, or cover our ourselves against potential fraud. I think its something we are going to have to give serious consideration, as currently our users are getting frustrated with the delay.
I was really happy to see the changes to the vendor admin area and its already made a huge difference to the usability of the system. Are there any plans in the near future to update and add a bit of love to the checkout pages? The feedback we have received from our customers is they are dubious about the process and from testing myself i have to agree that it is not very reassuring. It would not take much to update the layout to give the user more of an impression that they are checking out in a secure environment. Since moving over 100% to 2Checkout, we’ve had many of our regular customers leave saying that they just don’t trust putting their details into site, even though its completely secure.
On a side note, we are moving our entire store over to magento (magentocommerce.com) and in the process of developing a payment module for 2checkout. Is there someone at 2checkout we can contact regarding making sure that we are on track and have all our bases covered? We will be releasing the module to the community, so it would be of benefit to you guys as much as everyone else.

We’re actually putting a lot of resources into the purchase routine now. We’re performing tests to determine the optimal feature set, layout, flow, etc. I can’t tell you what changes will be made and when yet, but they are coming.

I am trying to get my head around how the automatic file delivery works. In your post you say that vendors (us) can add a return url, where the customer can access the product they purchased. How would that work from a technical point of view? Do you mean that the return url would be a direct link to the file? What is stopping the customer from posting the link on a warez site? Would the link be encrypted, or at least hidden?
Also, i had a look in the new VA, editing a product, but cant find any return url..
Your feedback on this would be much appreciated!

Is there any way to completely avoid the fraud check page and go to “pending page” directly (in fact my pending and fulfill pages are the same – due to the nature of product I have to make it available right away, regardless of fraud check).
Right now we are getting lots of complaints because many customers just read “24 hours for fraud check” and fail to see the link to download given below. On our site we promise immediate download so this is a problem.
