Baby’s almost asleep. You lift your hand away – slowly – ever so slightly – and then, “waaagh!” There was a mother and PhD in engineering behind the invention of the Zaky, and ergonomic bonding, positioning, and therapeutic infant aid, designed to mimic the touch, scent, warmth, and weight of a comforting hand. Weighing around 500 grams, the Zaky was first used at neonatal intensive care units in the Texas Medical Center in Houston and it is now available in pink, beige, and blue, and in left- and right- handed models to any new parent around the world needing, ahem, a spare hand.
