Right, like you couldn’t tell from the “quick-up” costume stores breathing neon-orange colored life back into your neighborhood’s half empty strip mall. Yes, these stores offer convenience and variety, but sadly, town to town, they are all the same and provide premiere shelf space for only the hottest selling, mass produced costumes. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of the only holiday of the year promoting creativity, individuality, and an opportunity for people to have fun being distinctly different?

So, this season, to buck the system, 2Checkout is taking a different approach to the traditional way of shopping for costumes and spooky accessories. October is a wonderful and busy time of year, but shopping online for unique products always eases my to do list. Here are some Halloween related products that will help you enjoy the wonder of the season!During the first week of October, I’m still settling down from summer and back-to-school and need to get in the mood for the season. I burn a little Dragon Slayer incense, put in some dark music and cozy up on the couch with a classic Bela Lugosi flick.

The first friday of the month, it’s time to get dolled up for the first big party of the season with Gothic Lace, After Dark Jewelry and even some fancy contacts from Nighteyes.

Now it’s time to start decorating for the season. Everything from classic horror movie posters to rustic autumn creations will help set the tone for the season. I also plan on getting plenty of beaded spiders to hang on my drapes. I may even try my hand at some stained glass projects. Then again, maybe next year.

After decorating, it’s time to decide on a costume. This year it’s a toss up between a belly dancing costume or something a bit more cutting edge. Either way, my wrist pocket will help me pull off the style without lugging a purse around. I also need to pick up some increasing shoes for a friend who needs to add some height for his costume, and a super cute pink kitty hat for my friend’s daughter.

When Halloween comes, friends and family gather at my house to pass out candy and see all the kids trick or treating. I have the caldron stocked with candy and seasonal stickers for all the kids, and love having some gags and magic tricks available for the adults. Oh, and if you don’t show up in costume, I always have some Groucho glasses ready for you!
