Securing Usernames

Have you parted ways with your webmaster? Have you recently had to let an employee go? Inevitably, business needs change and when needs change, sometimes employees or associates change too. An account hacking issue does not have to be inevitable, though. While 2Checkout can protect your information from our end, we cannot protect against people with an active, valid username and password from logging in to your 2Checkout account. With that said, it is important to manage all of the usernames on your account appropriately. Please remember to delete those usernames for persons who should no longer have access to your account. If you have given other people your main username and password, then it is also important that you change your password each time you wish to restrict account access.

New Vendor Admin: Add Username

The add username page allows you to create new usernames in your 2Checkout account. To access the add username page in our new vendor administration panel login at the following url: https://www.2checkout.com/va/
Once you have logged in click on the ‘Account’ tab and then select the ‘User Management’ sub category. To create a new username click on the ‘+’ symbol or ‘Create Username’ link on the right side of the page. The add username page requires that you fill out the following information.

Login Information

  • Email- The user’s email address where notifications will be sent.
  • Username- The username used to login.
  • Password- The password used to login.
  • Confirm Password- Confirmation of the password used to login.

Security Question

  • Question- The question you must answer to recover your password.
  • Answer- The answer you must provide to recover your password.

Access

  • Admin- Provides the user with access to everything in the account including access to remove
    usernames.
  • Basic Editing- Provides the user with access to edit basic account information (Contact information, Shipping information, Site Management) and preform sale maintenance (cancel recurring, refund, mark shipped).
  • Financial Read Only- Provides the user with access to view your payment information.
  • Financial Editing- Provides the user with access to change view and change banking wizard information.

Please note: When creating usernames and passwords for your account the following rules will apply.

Username: Must be 6 to 32 characters in length and can include letters, numbers and other characters, @, &, %, etc., but can’t contain the following characters: < or >. The username must also be available. If a username has been used by another supplier, or if a username has been used and deleted from your account, you will be unable to use that username.

Password: Must be 6 to 32 characters in length, with characters from at least two of the follow classes:
- lower case letter
- upper case character
- number
- symbol (except ” ‘ [ ] { } < > )

How do I create my user name and password?

The main username of your account can not be changed, but you can change the password of the main user and create multiple users for your account. To change the password of the main user you will need to log into the Classic Sellers Area (V2) as the main user and select the “Change” option next to “Change Password” under the “Other Links” menu. To change the password of the main user in the new Vendors Administration area you will log in using this url: https://www.2checkout.com/va/ After you have logged in you will then click the Account tab on the homepage. On the Account page you will click the User Management tab. On the User Management page click the Change Password link under User Management.

To create a new user for your account you will need to select the “Create” option next to “Add Usernames” under the “Helpful Links” menu on your account homepage.
