Yes, 2Checkout supports supplier created coupons. You can set coupons to equal to any of the following:
- percentage off individual items or off entire sales
- a set amount discount off an individual item or of entire sale
- free shipping
And if you’re feeling ambitious (or generous!), you can also set up multiple coupons.
What does the customer do to redeem the coupon? When you create a coupon, you will provide the coupon code that you can distribute to your customers in whatever manner you like. The customer will enter this code when making a purchase and the discount will be calculated automatically into the sale. It is important to note that if a coupon is being applied to a recurring product the discount will only apply to the first installment.
How does the Create Coupon option work? In order to create coupons, suppliers will need to access the new Vendors Administration panel.
To access the create coupon page in our new vendor administration panel please login at the following url: https://www.2checkout.com/va/ Once you have logged in click on the ‘Products’ tab and then select the ‘Coupons’ sub category.
To create a coupon make sure to fill all of the fields provided.
- Coupon Code- The code your customers will be using to receive the discount. Please note: If you don’t enter a coupon code, one will be automatically assigned when the coupon is created.
- Expiration Date- The date your coupon will expire in the following format. (YYYY-MM-DD)
- Savings- Use the drop down menu to select the savings type as fixed amount, percentage off or free shipping. The amount can be entered in the savings field as follows:
- Fixed Amount-1 = 1.00
- Percentage Off- 10 = 10%
- Free Shipping- Customer will receive free shipping if the plug and play parameter set is used.
- Minimum Purchase- The minimum order total required to use the coupon. Please note: In order for a fixed amount coupon to be created, you will need to ensure the minimum purchase amount is set lower than the cost of your least expensive product.
You may either select the check box to apply this coupon to all products created in your 2Checkout account or you may click on the ‘Show Products’ link to select which product/products the coupon is applied to. If you leave the checkbox blank the savings will apply to the sale total rather than an individual product price.

I have not set up any coupons, but the coupon input box is still shown on the payment pages. If no coupons are set up, please do not show the coupon box on the payment pages. It confuses the client, and makes them think they are missing out on a discount which in fact does not exist.
Thanks,
Marina

Marina – 2Checkout is currently offering a free gift to buyers in a promotion that it is running. In order to receive the free gift from 2Checkout buyers must enter the coupon code they received. They are able to purchase from any one of our vendors and receive this gift so the coupon code will appear on all vendors checkout pages. When the promotion ends and the coupon code is no longer valid the coupon box will only appear if you have created coupons on your account.

I didn’t know about this promotion. Where could I find more information about the free gift to buyers?

We are using our own shopping cart. This coupon interface is confusing since we have our own comprehensive coupon system in place. Please provide a facility to disable this coupon field a customer sees when they come to the payment page on your site.
Please make it asap despite your own needs since there is definitely a disconnect with your product offering and the interface in the case of 3rd party shopping carts.
Thanks

I’d like to thank everyone for your feedback. I have passed it on to our developers for their consideration.

Do Coupons even work? About a month ago I used them for the first time and they seemed to work and my clients were using them to get discounts, but they suddenly stopped working. 2CO support told me that they had made changes to their system and that caused coupons to fail. I checked today too, and they are still not working. Any plans to get this feature working again?

Joel, thank you for helping out.
However, the coupon still shows despite no coupon was setup at all. In fact, it just appeared recently.
Hope this can resolved soon. Since some vendors do not really need it, as it may confuse purchasers, as stated by Marina.
Thanks again.

Can the coupon code be passed as a form field to 2checkout. Does that work. it would be easier for customers if this was automated.
Thanks

Hello! I would like a way to generate coupons automatically from my php pages. I would also like an option for the coupon to delete itself after it has been used once. This way, I can create individual coupons for individual customers.

gfyffe,
Unfortunately, that is not possible with the built-in coupon system. You may, of course, use a custom or third party cart that has its own coupon system, however.

We are trying to add a discount coupon via https://www.2checkout.com/2co/admin/create_coupon?oid=XXXXX but when setup the coupon the discount is applied to all of our products. We only to offer the discount coupon to some of our specific packages, please let me know how can we do that?

At this time you can only create coupons that can be used for all products. Our developers are working on enhancing the coupon feature so that you can create coupons that only apply to specific products and have the ability to create a custom coupon code.

When I first signed up (earlier this week), I was able to actually specify the Promotional Code itself. And the interface I created the coupon in was definitely not the same as I’m finding at:
https://www.2checkout.com/2co/admin/create_coupon?oid=XXXXXX
Is there another place to do this?
Thanks!!

You were probably looking at the coupon page in the VA, located here.
You’ll need to be logged in to the VA to view the above link. If you are not, you can find the coupons page by logging to the VA and navigating to the coupons sub-tab under the products area.

Can a customer apply 2 coupons to the same purchase? Is that allowed in your system? I would like my current coupons to remain in use, but I’d also like to offer some of my affiliates/resellers the chance to give an additional discount to their lists. That would mean the customer would have to enter 2 coupon codes for each sale to get both discounts.

Marketingwords – Customers will only be able to apply one coupon to a purchase. If you wanted to give additional discounts you would need to combine the discounts into one coupon code.

Hi Lusine, At this time the coupon code cannot be passed into the purchase routine as a parameter value along with the other purcahse parameters. I will add your name to our request for this feature and make sure that gets to our developers as a request for the future.

Hello Joel, thanks for quick reply.
I have one more question. I have created coupon and select several products from product list(I don’t want coupon to act on ALL products). But the problem is that then I submit form with several products, and enter coupon number,I get discount only for one product. So if I have several products that are under same coupon number, discount is counted only on one of them, not on total price as I expected.

At this time, our coupons are only able to either reduce the total of the sale or reduce the amount of a single product. You could potentially accomplish what you want to do using a percentage off the total sale, since percentages will affect prices uniformly. For example, whether a customer had 1 product totaling $50.00 or 3 products totaling $150.00, a percentage off coupon of 10% will reduce the cost of either by the same proportioned amount. The $50.00 sale will be reduced by $5.00, and the $150.00 sale will be reduced by $15.00 (ie. 3 products multiplied by $5.00 off each product).

I have 3 products (product1, product2, product3). I don’t want to give discount for product3. And want to give 50% discount for any number of product1 and product2.So in Vendor Area I added coupon and select product1 and product2 from product list.
But when I submit form and enter coupon number in billing form I got this view
—-Products in cart—-
(2)Product1 2$
(1)Product2 5$
(1)Coupon 50% off Product1 -1$
——————————-
Sale Total 6$
So sale total became 6$, instead of (2+5) / 2 = 3.5$
As you can see from ‘product in cart’ view, coupon effects only on Product1.

At this time, coupons can only provide a discount on the order total or on a single product. I will send your request for discounts on multiple products with in the same sale to our developers for possible integration in the future.

I think there is something wrong with coupons.
I have created coupon for 40% discount and choose All Products. So I supposed that with this coupon number my customers will get 40% discount on order total. But when I entered coupon number I see that 40% discount is submitted only for one of products(with highest price) within order.
Please help

When you use the Select All Products option while creating a coupon, the coupon will be able to apply to any *one* of those products. If you want the coupon to apply to just the cart total and not to a specific product, do not check the Select All Products option when creating your coupon.
