Affiliate Program

Why is 2Checkout’s Affiliate Program geared towards other Suppliers only?

In order to advertise my product effectively I need an Affiliate Program that allows anyone to sign up for an affiliate account through 2Checkout fast and painless without having to pay the one time activation fee or have a website verfied.

Anyone should be able to sign up for an Affiliate Program through 2Checkout for free and then send emails with links in them to the products they are promoting. If they have a website, they can also display links there, but not everyone has a website.

Also, there is no easy way to find intructions how to sign up as an affiliate. There needs to be a link on the home page that they can follow.

Does anyone else feel the same way I do?

There was a recent meeting of the minds on improving the affiliate program at the end of July. Is anyone from 2Checkout going to list the meeting notes or what was discussed and what improvements they intend to make?

We do offer a free signup for anyone who is interested in being an affiliate seller. There is no charge for this type of account. The URL to become an affiliate seller is:

https://www.2checkout.com/va/signup

You can provide this link to anyone interested in marketing your products.

Your suggestion for a link on our homepage is valid and I will pass this on to those in charge of our community page.

I have also asked our marketing department to reply to your comment regarding the affiliate meeting that took place. Our affiliate program is still in it’s infancy and there will definitely be additions to the program and more features to come.

Thank you for the reply. I foundsomeone else’s comment about the affiliate program that was asking the same thing after I had already posted and there was a link in their thread to the signup page that I went to last night.

I went through the motions of signing up as an affiliate so that I could give instructions to others that were interested in marketing my products. Here are some other issues I ran into.

The signup page is somewhat confusing because the top part references earning money for referring people to 2Checkout

“For each paid signup you’ll receive an $11 commission.”

“Earn extra cash for yourself by referring your customers and site visitors to 2CO.”

The bottom part of the signup page should be completely seperate from the top part and is what I was looking for however after I clicked the 2 checkboxes and hit next I came to the page that asked for personal information which has required fields marked with an * that not every affilaite is going to have or even needs to have such as:

Company Name

Website URL

Customer Service Phone Number

Customer Service Email

An Affiliate could be someone that has no technical background and does not own a company or a website. It could be a normal everyday person like my neighbor who only knows how to operate email and knows nothing about PC’s or websites.

This everyday person that knows how to work email can send their links through their emails to market products and earn money.

The next issue I had was that there was a break in the explanation of the whole process when it came to the part about setting up your bank account information. There needs to be a step in there that ells everyone to go through the bank wizard and click the “Set Live” button.

Also on this Bank Account page there is an area that you choose the currency type and it defaults to Australian dollars in the display box. It is very misleading. Right underneath it is a box that you can not modify that displays the current currency type which is set to Paid In – US Dollars.

That box above it should default to US Dollars in my opinion or to nothing at all. For some reason if you choose any other type of currency and click the button to update the information it does not update right away and it reverts to Australian Dollars again even though the Paid In box shows US Dollars. When I went back and looked today it finally updated to show US Dollars in the pricing Currency box but 2Checkout needs to fix this. I don’t have any other suggestions than that here but it needs to be more intuitive.

The final thing I noticed when going through this process was that you provide many options for copying and pasting HTML Code into web pages.

It would be nice if you included a section that had instructions for how to embed HTML into an email. I figured it out and I can explain it to any of my affiliates that are interested in doing this, but it would be great if 2Checkout could add something about it on that page.

I typed up a quick “How To” on my website for anyone that wanted to become an affiliate if you or anyone at 2Checkout wants to take a look at it.

My Affiliate Program Page

I hope you are able to take my suggestions and use them to improve your affiliate program.

Thank you for the considerable feedback. We will definitely take it under consideration.

As you may have noticed by now, we recently added our notes from the affiliate marketer meeting to our homepage blog.

I have moved this thread to the “Affiliate Program” category, so we can better keep track of it.

This is one thing that is going to keep me from using 2CO for my affiliate program. If you take a look at some of 2COs’ competition (CB for example) the affiliate sign-up is much more clear. If 2CO wants to marketing their own affiliate program, that’s fine, of course. But – it shouldn’t be done on what should be a generic sign up page for all marketers.

Has there been any discussion about removing this from the sign-up page?

I believe this will be changed when the new affiliate program rolls out.

Thanks for the suggestion.
