INS – questions about “invoice_status”

Hello 2CO staff,

I read all your INS documentation but I still don’t understand completely how the “invoice_status” parameter changes.

I know the possible values are approved, pending, deposited, or declined. But how does this look in an actual sale? What is the difference between approved and deposited? Are all 4 statuses used in, for example, credit card purchases?

I was wondering if you could give a few real-life examples of how the invoice status would change for a sale.

Please stop changing currency automatically.

Hi,

Seems like 2CO recently started automatically changing customer’s currency based on the country (IP). Please stop that (or make a per-account option NOT to) as we all know what your exchange rates are like.

My account has prices set in USD. Customer should be charged in USD unless he/she EXPLICITLY changes his/her currency into EUR, don’t change it for him/her automatically!

An example: customer should have been charged $468. He will be paying with PayPal and his PayPal account is in USD. But because 2CO automatically changed his currency into EUR (what the customer failed to notice) he was charged based on two lousy conversion rates (2CO changed $468 to EUR then PayPal changed his USD funds into EUR as well) and was charged $34 more than he should have been.

So, my request is – don’t change customer’s currency automatically (or provide a setting where we can turn this off for our account). If the prices are in USD the customer should be charged in USD unless he/she explicitly changes the currency to something else.

Thank you!

Auto login? I would rather not please.

Hello,

I noticed 2CO recently started logging us to the vendor account automatically (if you login to the vendor area then close all browser windows and open https://www.2checkout.com/va/ again you are still logged in).

Personally I don’t like this for two main reasons:

1. SECURITY
If i forget to click the Logout button the next person who uses my PC will have access to my 2CO account.

2. MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS
I have several 2CO accounts and I’m always automatically logged into the one I used most recently, even though I try to access some other account.

I understand many people like this feature but please make auto logins OPTIONAL. For example a checkbox when logging in saying “Remember me on this computer”.

Thank you.
Klemen

A heads up on the Vendor admin URL

Hi,

Just want to give you a heads up on the URL address of the new Vendor Admin. It works fine when accessed from
https://www.2checkout.com/va/

However, if you remove the trailing slash it doesn’t work:
https://www.2checkout.com/va

Also, the non https versions throw a 404 error:
http://www.2checkout.com/va/
http://www.2checkout.com/va

I would recommend that all these URLs redirect us to the correct one
https://www.2checkout.com/va/
in order to avoid confusion.

One more thing: it seems that the “Update Release level” button doesn’t work on the Bank account page, no matter what I enter it always gives an error saying “Some of the values you entered were invalid. Please correct the data and resubmit.” Tried with both IE8 and FireFox 3 on Vista x64.

Regards,
Klemen

Currency change effect on existing subscriptions

Hello,

My account is currently set to EUR as default currency. I am planing to change the default currency to USD.

I know this effects all prices in the database (amounts remain the same but currency changes – if I had a product set to 10 EUR it will now cost 10 USD if I don’t modify the price), no problems here.

My question is – does changing currency effect existing active subscriptions? For example if have a number of existing customers who pay me 50 EUR per month will they now be charged 50 USD? Or does the currency change have no effect on EXISTING ACTIVE subscriptions?

Thanks!

Single page checkout needs changes

Dear 2CO staff,

I am very happy that you introduced the single-page checkout (https://www.2checkout.com/checkout/spurchase), I’ve implemented it on all my buttons.

BUT it has one major issue: the default form action (when you the hit enter key) is “Continue Shopping”. It should be “Checkout”!

The whole idea about the single-page checkout is to give the customer a quick way of checking out. So when a user hits “Enter” it should be taken to “Checkout” and not back to our website!

I am not just making this up, I’ve had complaints from three customers in a week who got confused, thought we charged them several times but their account was never activated. Every time they submitted the form (by pressing enter) they were taken back to our website and were never really charged. We never had such problems with the old setup.

So, the default action for the quick checkout should be “Checkout”! That’s the whole idea of the single-page, isn’t it? It would also help if “Checkout” button was different color than “Continue Shopping” and “Update”, maybe green or blue?

Any thoughts on this?

MUST ADD: Notify a script after a subscription has been cancelled

Dear 2CO staff,

I’ve been a 2CO customer for years, I have 3 accounts open and all 3 also use subscriptions (recurring monthly payments).

I think 2CO has one HUGE disadvantage over competitors when it comes to subscriptions, which makes truly automated membership/subscription sites impossible and you should look into it seriously. The thing is we can automatically activate membership with the help of ”Approved URL” setting. Someone purchases a subscription, is taken to the approved URL, we check the string and activate the membership. Quite easy and works very well.

The problem is when someone CANCELS a subscription (or for example billing is declined) we have to MANUALLY cancel the membership, because 2CO offers no way of notifying our scripts of the change. And with hundreds of members and years of service we spend a lot of time and effort to manually keep track of all the cancelled/declined subscriptions.

PayPal for example can notify a 3rd party script
a) when the subscription is created
b) when a recurring payment is made
c) when the subscription is cancelled

I wish we were at least able to setup an URL which 2CO notifies when the subscription is cancelled/declined. We can setup ”Approved URL” and ”Pending URL”, why not something like ”Cancelled URL”? It’s a simple HTTP call together with sale number and possibly ”Unknown purchase parameters” (so we can pass in and use extra information as required).

Why hasn’t this important feature been added yet? I have been told long ago that you plan to add something like this, but nothing to date. Can we expect something in the near future?

I truly hope your tech guys can add something like this, it’s a standard feature among other similar services and we won’t be able to use 2CO for any serious AUTOMATED membership/subscription service until this is available. Like said, we can activate memberships automatically, but have to keep track of all manually to disable the cancelled ones.

Thanks in advance!
