In this RC of the checkout pages, a great deal has changed. They have been rebuilt from the bottom up with a new architecture and slightly new approach to the flow. This RC will be in beta for longer than the standard schedule. There are a lot of changes present in this RC and a few new payment methods, therefore we felt we should extend the beta period.

Things to know before you start
================================
1 ) At this time our available data set is limited to a single vendor in this area. Therefore, if you attempt to use your own links you will get a parameter error displayed. This is because it cannot actually find your vendor ccount. YOU MUST USE THE VENDOR# PROVIDED BELOW. You may make your own links if you’d like, but the vendor number must be the same.
2 ) This beta site points to our test networks for authorizations, therefore, charges will NOT BE REAL, you will NOT BE CHARGED, NOR WILL YOU GET PAID FOR THESE ORDERS.
3 ) Along the lines of #2, because of the test network, not all payment methods will be able to actually authorize a sale. BillMeLater and Amex for example have specific test data that is used on their test network to produce specific results. We cannot release this test data for your use, so expect authorizations to fail with these payment methods.
4 ) In addition, there will be times when a payment method is simply not suitable for a long-term beta setup. ATM Direct, for instance, does not have a permanent beta location and cannot be “spoofed” due to the client server nature of the application. When this situation occurs, these payment methods will be disabled.
5 ) Cookies MUST be active for this page to function correctly.

Points Of Interest:

– The checkout pages have a new look to them. Give us your feedback on them.
– The format of the emails have changed slightly, you will not get the vendor confirmation emails in this specific trial, but you will see the customer confirmation email.
– A lot of content has been removed from the pages in order to make it leaner. In some cases that we’ve tested, helper content was removed. If you believe that certain content should be added back in to assist buyers, please let us know.
– We would also like some feedback on the email format. We have been tossing around the idea of making HTML/Text/Multi-part/etc. email messages. In order to preserve the functionality that was there, we stuck with text only essages at this time. Please give us your feelings on changing this format for both the vendor & customer confirmation emails. (Also, of note, if you want them to be different, say so; i.e. Vendor emails are text, Customer emails are multi-part.)
– Third Party Cart Parameters have had a lot of functionality added with respect to the c_prod parameters and their display. Test them out, let us know what you think about the way they display and show in the emails.
– Take a look at the new flow and information collection, look at both products with shipping and products w/o offer any advice on improving the flow that you’d like to see.
Things that are currently being added to the page

– There is a payment method already available for use, but it cannot be used in beta or demo mode.
* ATM Pin-Debit is available in this checkout page.
– There will be 2 more payment methods added during this beta.
* A paypal solution for international buyers.
* A new payment method available to certain geographic locations, FXSource.
– Breadcrumb navigation links, to step backwards.
– Navigation links in the summary section, to step backwards.

Regarding cookies – will they be absolutely required to complete orders, or are
they just for the cart functionality (and other optional features)? Of course,
it is desirable that basic orders may be placed even when cookies are disabled.
As it relates to order pages content, it’d be nice for vendors to be able to
disable the logos on the left (especially the Hacker Safe logo). Not only is
the Hacker Safe logo annoying/offensive, but also the SSL certificate for
images.scanalert.com is not recognized by some older browsers (that recognize
the rest of the certificates used for content on the same page, so this logo is
the only problem).
Text-only e-mails are best. However, if you decide to change that, multi-part
with text and HTML parts (of the same content) would also be acceptable.
HTML-only e-mails would not be acceptable at all – so please don’t do that!
For possible automated processing (e.g., to remove download URLs on orders that
get cancelled for fraud), text-only (and no MIME) works best.

Can you make dynamic country relation to the state, so to first choose country and than pup-up state list, if available.

Being a non-US based vendor, most of my comments relate to dealing in non-US based currencies and trading from the other side of the world!
I agree with crv747tropic – the Country should be above the State. If the country or the buyer is in the US or Canada then show available states. Lots of countries don’t actually have states and as a vendor from New Zealand I found it difficult to get past the first screen. Perhaps if the country was not US or Canada then disable the State combo-box altogether?
I think its important to aid the buyer as much as possible when filling out any required fields. I see that you’ve split first name and surname – if this is the case you need to make it clear that both text fields are required. Currently this is unclear to the buyer.
Same with the telephone number. If a certain format is required, then let the buyer know. Again I struggled to get past this box… We only have 7-digit phone numbers in New Zealand!
When it comes to payment, beneath the list of flags is stated “For non-US currency, payment options are limited to Visa & Master Card”. However when submitting the personal information I am then shown a list of credit card symbols to select from – Cards other than Visa and Master Card are displayed making it confusing to the customer. One minute I can’t use my AmEx Card and then on the next screen it becomes an option?!
The only other suggestion I’d like to recommend is to be able to have some opportunity to edit a portion of the email that goes to the buyer. I realise that you are somewhat constrained with legal obligations, but would be useful to have a small portion of the standard email customisable by the vendor. Even if it’s a couple of lines?

Angelo – one more note: please be sure to test the new checkout pages with JavaScript disabled. Just like disabling cookies, disabling JavaScript should not prevent basic orders from being placed. This implies that the State drop-down box will remain enabled even for countries that do not have states, etc. when JavaScript is disabled – but this is better than complete inability to place an order.

Good afternoon everyone, I am happy to let you know that we will have a new load of changes moving out very soon. I apologize for the delay, but we ran into a few bugs that demanded our full attention. Here is the list of changes and a short list of items that we will be working on.
Fixes

* The security branding/logos on the side of the page have had a mouse
style (pointer) applied to indicate they are actual links.
* The fixed parameter now functions as intended.
* The legal document links at the bottom of the page have been changed
to open in new windows.
* Changing your currency after choosing a shipping method will now cause
the selected shipping method to be converted to that currency without
reselecting it.
* Shipping methods will now report as FREE if the cost is 0 Yen.
* Changing your currency while in the midst of a transaction will now
always return you to the very first page.
* EChecks are now being correctly filtered and should not show up as
an option on non-USD sales.
* Products WITHOUT options will now stack in your cart. The behavior of
products with options remains the same.
* 3rd party cart orders will now correctly prevent the editing of the
quantity field, the “Remove” option remains.
* Display errors concerning the Yen have been addressed.
* The currency code and symbol now appear in the cart summary for added
clarification.
* The Fixed=Y parameter has been fixed.
* Text only emails for the foreseeable future.
Next Few Rounds

* Solar – Currently testing and adjusting the purchase routine to offer
basic functionality with JavaScript turned off; same for cookies.
* crv747tropic – We both like the idea for dynamic country relation to
the state and will be adding this soon.

My buyers are non/us or canada, and they have trouble when have to choose state,
is it possible to eliminate that option when they select non us or canada.

@labcor – The purchase pages are available in Spanish. You need to pass the parameter ”lang” with a value of ”SP” to view them in Spanish.

Perhaps it would be more scalable solution to catch the Accept-Language request header from a customer browser and switch the language accordingly. That way 2CO could add more languages at any moment later without extra adjustments on a vendor side. Btw, this is a standard approach recommended by the World Wide Web at Consortium http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-lang-priorities
OT: the post form on this forum strips the URL from the hyperlink tag (Firefox 2).

Your order form is not very good.
Don’t make width of page 100% !
With my Wide screen and resolution 1600×1050 it looks ugly.
Right block ”Products in cart” is too far from left block ”Review Order”.
Make width static, something like 800-1000 pixels.
And all page in the center of the screen.
I think it will be much better.
Logo of the merchant will be under the right block,
It’s too far, customers don’t see it when they make an order.
The better make it in the center of screen or under the left block.

Dear Staff,
I do much business with you and came here because I realized some my customers are hiving problems during checkout process.
1/ Almost everything you wanted to tell you is listed here already. Please pay attention to these comments. They are great.
2/ Then.. Returning to country/state selection. You may have them as they are but.. ’Outside from US’ state selection should be at very top of this. As international vendor/customer it was really hard to find this option.. It should be fixed. If you have ideas how to improve this part completely go forward please.
3/ CC images. You accept not only visa and MC. Right? Why do not show all images there.
4/ Screen where CC number, code, date should be typed. code input should be a little bit less. Not the same as CC input. And date field should be month and then year. Just recommendation..
5/ I got confirmation email from fraud department today about some order was failed. But I do not have such order in the account. Some bug? Or testing? Dunno.
