This is a little section for anyone that wants to stop by and throw in their two cents on what purchase should have. I will be posting regularly to the purchase thread, but I will be patrolling here for great new ideas.

You’ve asked for suggestions but looking through the posts on the Beta 7.5 thread you already have them, so why are you not acting on them? Please let us know what will be changed as its now 10 days since the new software was introduced & Im still receiving calls from confused customers.
I will repeat many of the problems already outlined to you :
Firstly, customer name. I contacted the support desk about the 3 name boxes misaligned with no indication of what to enter where. The answer I got back was you need to maximise the web window. This is not obvious to me nor customers & should not be necessary.
’state’. This issue has gone on for years. It is now not a mandatory field, although the field title is in bold which I am guessing means mandatory although there is no explanation of this. Many other payment screens use an asterisk against the field name to inform customers of the mandatory fields with an expalnation at the top ie. ’* required’. If you are breaking with convention & using bold field titles instead please explain this on screen to the customer instead of trying to catch them out & confronting them with a red mandatory message AFTER the event.
The CVV needs an explanation.
When selecting payment option the checkbox says just ’Credit’, it should say ’Credit / Debit Card’. I received a call from a customer who was using a Debit Card & was confused by the abrupt ’Credit’ checkbox. With a Debit Card they are not buying on credit, the two are totally different.
The address boxes scroll on the order screen so if you are entering a long address you cannot see what you have entered. (unless you maximise the screen)
Theres your suggestions, not so much two cents but ’two penneth’ as we call it over here in England.

I have been collecting the suggestions made elsewhere on the forums. We are working on adding feature requests as well as working on closing bugs and issues. I appreciate the feedback and will be frequently checking this thread to read anything that anyone wants to suggest.

From Snowy: ”You’ve asked for suggestions but looking through the posts on the Beta 7.5 thread you already have them, so why are you not acting on them? Please let us know what will be changed. . . ”
Snowy has a great point. I was thinking that it’s not enough to say that I am reading all the suggestions posted everywhere. I need to let you know what I have seen and what I have worked on and what has been thought about. Below I put most of the requests that I have some across. I have grouped them by what I have seen, what has been done, what I don’t understand and things that I can’t do right now, but are great future ideas. I have included portions of the request for reference and in most cases some comments from myself.
– I have gathered the following requests to act on –
”State is now not a mandatory field, although the field title is in bold”
”The address boxes scroll on the order screen so if you are entering a long address you cannot see what you have entered.”
”Can you make dynamic country relation to the state, so to first choose country and than pup-up state list, if available.”
”The Country should be above the State.”
”Perhaps if the country was not US or Canada then disable the State combo-box altogether?”
– The following requests posted have been acted on –
”Firstly, customer name. I contacted the support desk about the 3 name boxes misaligned with no indication of what to enter where.”
We have added an explanation of the format for the boxes. This will be in the next release.
”The CVV needs an explanation.”
Done. This will be in the next release.
”Explain the telephone number format.”
Done. Available now. This was an older request that we acted on a couple iterations ago.
”When it comes to payment, beneath the list of flags is stated ”For non-US currency, payment options are limited to Visa & Master Card”. However when submitting the personal information I am then shown a list of credit card symbols to select from – Cards other than Visa and Master Card are displayed making it confusing to the customer.”
Card images are set to appear/not appear depending on the currency and their availability.
– I have questions about –
”When selecting payment option the checkbox says just ’Credit’, it should say ’Credit / Debit Card’. I received a call from a customer who was using a Debit Card & was confused by the abrupt ’Credit’ checkbox. With a Debit Card they are not buying on credit, the two are totally different.”
This was a compromise for the Debit Card payment method supplied by ATM Direct. We wanted a way to let people know that debit only cards could be used with that payment method. I do see your point though. I will add ”Explain Debit vs. Credit/Debit somewhere on the page in an efficient way.”
”Regarding cookies – will they be absolutely required to complete orders, or are they just for the cart functionality (and other optional features)? Of course,
it is desirable that basic orders may be placed even when cookies are disabled.”
The purchase routine will work without cookies. They only problem that should occur in that case is going between purchase and the vendor web site.
”I’m lacking ”fixed=Y” parameter. Is it available? Where can I get full list of parameters that are accepted by routine?”
This should cover everything: http://www.2checkout.com/community/?cat=46
– Future –
”To edit a portion of the email that goes to the buyer. I realize that you are somewhat constrained with legal obligations, but would be useful to have a small portion of the standard email customizable by the vendor.”
I will definitely need to ask a lot of questions before I even begin to think about doing this. I personally like the idea and I will keep mentioning it around the office.
”Is it possible to get checkout page in Swedish? We can translate it Swedish and 3 other languages.”
I am going to have to bring other people into this before I can make a decision and act. It’s a good suggestion though.
