As I am sure that all of you have noticed, we have released the new purchase routine. There is a lot that we tried to get into the new purchase for its launch. In many respects this new purchase is far superior to its predecessor and its method of release was different from other project releases. I thought that the publicly available beta version for purchase was something that is worth pursuing, there was a lot of valuable feedback that we got from your comments and questions about the beta purchase. I would like to see the coverage of the beta server increase to provide a wider verity of available data for anyone to look over and play with new changes before release.
There was also quite a bit that could have been better at release time and we are working to bring the pieces that fell short up to the level that you expect them to be at. The first week we were all firefighting and getting what was most noticeable cleaned up first. Now we are settling down into a period of maintenance. I am going to be doing my part by patrolling these comments, purchase comments posted elsewhere and most importantly scrounging around in our bug tracking system. I want to keep lines of communication open and for my part I will be here posting at a minimum once a week to keep anyone interested up to date on things that we are doing for purchase.

We are planning a code update for Purchase on Thursday.
Some of the items we are releasing are:
* Shipping: purchase was calculating weight values/ranges incorrectly in some select cases. This is fixed.
* Back end code for supporting FXSource.
I would like to speak about the removal of vendor logos for a moment. We have no intention of keeping vendor logos off the purchase pages any longer than we have to. They were removed as a temporary bandage for an indirectly related issue that we needed time to resolve. The logos will be back as soon as possible.

There was no purchase release this week. There are quite a lot of usability changes scheduled for next week. Items that everyone has been asking for since this new purchase released.
We are currently discussing how to reduce the number of steps in the purchase routine. I will keep you posted as more information on this arises.

Thank you so much for making the recent changes regarding the transaction process. Great news indeed.
One thing that’s still a bit of a burden, however. You have changed the button to ”click here to finalize your order” which is definitely an improvement. However, above this button there is text that still reads: ”Click here to return to supplier’s website”. Those words should be completely eliminated from this page since clicking the ”finalize” button does not return the customer to the supplier’s website. The wording of this is still quite misleading. If those words are eliminated, the page will be perfect. Is there any way that can happen? It would be greatly appreciated and make things much easier to understand for all concerned.
Thanks!

It’s great to hear that the recent changes/fixes have improved things for you. We have some fixes already tested and set to release today (see below). I will make your requested change and get it in our next scheduled load, which I think is next week.
————————————————
Release Notes:
* A missing image on the ATMDirect install page has been fixed.
* Using c_prod parameters with products that do not exist in the system will now show the correct quantity. Even double digit quantities.
* A back-end system warning was corrected when changing quantities.
* The right totals pane in the Spanish pages should now say ”Detalles do su Orden” and not ”Su información”
* The order summary page ( last page ) in the Spanish pages will now say ”Oprima aqui para finalizar la orden” instead of ”Por favor haga click aquÃ.” for the finalize button.
* The Spanish address info page has had the ”bold” notice added to them it should say ”Los titulos obscuros son requeridos”

Our customers are complaining about 2 problems with your payment process:
1) If they remove an item from the shopping cart and click update, it says ”cart is empty”. That is fine, but if they then click on the ”Continue Shopping” button to try to get back to our product list, they get an error message saying ”The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded”. Why is that? Shouldn’t it take them back to the vendor order page or web site?
2) If a customer clicks on the ”Contact Sales” link from your product order form, they get a blank page. Why is that? Why aren’t our Business Contact Details loaded as stored in our vendor account?
Please fix this urgently as it is losing us business.
thanks

Any updates on the plan for the multi language payment forms. This feature can reaaly help us boost sales by 50-100% in europe where custromers are sensitive to such an issue.

I started working on issue #1 this morning. I will let you know how about it’s progress here. I will start looking into your second issue immediately.
lacabessa:
This decision is outside my authority to make, but I can get the ball rolling and ask around. What would be on your top 5 if you had to make a list of languages to cover first?

Thanks Brandon for the reply. The top 3 languages for me would be French, Dutch then German. But i think 2checkout has been requested many times for such feature but they must have some reasons that prevent them from rolling it out.
Thanks again

Hello Brandon,
Except already mentioned problem with empy card on 2co payment page when customer can’t go back to vendor site after removin item(s) from card i would like to mention some other problems that we meet.
About this removing items by customer on 2co payment page i find it completely useless option that just can harm vendors with 3rd party shopping cards. I realy can’t see how can our local database notice this card items change. If 2co want to keep this removing items option it is Ok but i think that you need to pass back parameters again to the vendor’s shopping card, so wee need to have another script on returning page that checks items in shopping card and update it again after customer came back from 2co page. I find this as a lot of work for nothing because I think it would be enough to solve this on simple way. You can have one more parameter (optionaly parameter) that would be continue shopping URL and just a button for continue shopping wich after click return customer back on specified URl in this parameter or If blank on URL that was customer came fromon 2co page. So customer can continue chopping and modify content of shopping card items on vendor site and when decide to pay come again on 2co page and complete payment. That is how I see solution for this one.
Second problem is problem with FxSource payment method and no notification of vendor after customer decide to make payment using this method. For me that means that if I want to delete uncompleted orders from our shopping card database there is no way for me to find out does some of those uncompleted orders was eventualy payed choosed to be payed using FxSurce. After using FXSource customer gets only invoice with payment instructions for his country. Is it possible to redirect customer on vendor site after that. I know that it can’t be done automaticaly but maybe predict some button on final FXsource payment method page to go back on vendor site and write maybe ”Click here to complete your order with seller” or something like that. If this cannot be done is it possible to notify vendor with an email that ordr vith number ( vendor order number ) was choosed to be payed with FXSource , and will be completed after notification from FXSource that is payed.

The item: The parameter error page has been changed to read, ”Your cart is empty.”
Will not be going out this week. It was decided that this change would be confusing and was rolled out of the release.

Well the major announcement for this week is the release of Paypal. I will be hanging around this thread looking for comments on it’s real world performance. If anyone would like to make some suggestions or point out any improvements that we can make please feel free to let me know.

Hey Brandon - thanks so much for adding the PayPal option. It’s something I’ve been waiting for a while.
Can I make a suggestion?
Checkout Options:
At the bottom of the ”review order” box, there’s the new PayPal logo. However, it’s much bigger/bolder than the rest of the options on the page, and really gives the impression that PayPal is the only option.
For tech guys like us, it’s easy to see the other options, but I fear a lot of people won’t make the distinction (based on some of the ”duh” customer support questions I get for my own website…)
The ”Checkout” button should be much bigger, maybe with icons of credit cards/FX source etc, so it’s really obvious what the choices are.
I’m sure you guys are really busy, and work hard. If you could put this suggestion into the hat..?
Many thanks
Al Fraser

Hi Brandon,
Apologies if I’m overlooking something obvious, but I just started using 2CO today and have been trying to figure out what’s going on with some apparent glitches; the forum here shows that one is a known issue (the ”URL is not valid and cannot be loaded” thing with continue shopping on an empty cart) but the other might be brand-spanking new:
The Paypal button on the review order page appears to be broken. Clicking on it directs the browser to https://www.2checkout.com/2co/checkout/pay_method/paypalintl, which apparently doesn’t exist.
Anyone else having this problem? Am I screwing something up on my end?
Also, I second alexff’s suggestion to put the checkout button on equal footing with the Paypal option…

OK, the Paypal button seems to work today, so I guess that issue’s been addressed.
I had a client ask me today if I could move that Paypal button down so it doesn’t look like the only/best way to pay, giving a third voice to Al’s point about the Paypal button’s over-prominence…

We’re currently collecting detailed usage data on the transaction pages, so we can make informed decisions on what changes to make. This means, it’s not possible to make aesthetic changes right now, but that they will be made in the future. Unfortunately, I cannot provide an estimate on when or what specific changes will be made yet.
