I was trying to pay an order that lead me to this site for payment, and everything went well until I put in the credit card number. It said something like “card number can’t be verified” or something similar.
I’m from Finland and using mastercard. I contacted my bank, but they didn’t know why wouldn’t it work.
What could be the problem?
Also, it seems that 2CO is the only re-seller of the product I was about to buy, and I really need that product. So, please, help me.

I tried the support ticket and I wrote a long story of the problem, after that the service said it didn’t send the message and that I should read the knowledge page, I did read that and was not given answer, so I tried to send the message again. Then it said that my order number was not valid and I’m sure that there was no other order numbers of anykind.
Also, I’m not very good at speaking english, so I’d prefer help writen. Someone else might have the same problem, so why not give some help here. Why do you even have the community, if it’s only used to forward people to use the support ticket that doesn’t even work all the time? It seems not to work very well, atleast.
Much thanks in advance.
Sincerelly,

J-M K,
I apologize for any problems that you had when attempting to open a support ticket. Generally, the error you had encountered is due to the card number being entered incorrectly. This can usually be resolved by clearing the cookies in your web browser and replacing the order. You may wish to read this article for more detailed instructions on how to clear the cookies in the web browser that you are using.
Please note: If you are still having issues when you are placing an order you may wish to wish to click the Live Chat logo in the upper left corner of the order page to chat directly with a 2Checkout representative.

I tried this several times, too. And it didn’t work. I’ve made several orders after the previous one had expired. But I’ll try the live help next time I try to pay my order.

J-M K,
You may also want to ensure that your pop up blocker is turned off when you are making the order. Depending on the type of credit card you are using you may need to fill verify Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure Code information.

I was in contact with one from your staff with the live help-service, and that didn’t help me, but then I just tested if it was the browser that was not working with the 2CO, so I swapped firefox for IE and it worked perfectly.
So, I’d recommend that you put a warning somewhere, that 2CO doesn’t work with Firefox browser.
Anyway, I’m glad I got it working.

The 2CO purchase routine does work with Firefox.
If changing browsers corrected the problem, I suspect the issue was related to your session.

Thank God somebody else have this problem. I was beginning to think that it was only me.
Just yesterdaynight, i tried paying for a domain name registration service and my MasterCard was declined with this message “Invalid credit card number”
Of course this is the same card that i have used to place order several times on the same website through 2checkout.
I openned a ticket and i was supposed to receive a confirmation through my email but it never came therefore my complaints were not attended to.
In addition, i have cleared the cookies on my laptop and tried to reorder but the same problem is encountered.
Can you guys help out please before someone else picks up the domain name i wanted to register.

We will be more than happy to help you. Their are no new tickets registered under your email address. The error message you received indicates that the card number was entered incorrectly at one point. Please clear your browsers cache and cookies again and restart the browser as I believe this error message is cached. Please resubmit your support ticket in the tech category so that we can further assist you if necessary.

Hi,
I had this same problem and I’m glad to see that it was has been talked about. But the problem has never really been solved. If you use Firefox with a Mastercard you will get the error message:
“Your authorization failed for the following reason:
Authorization Failed Cardholder authentication has failed.
Please go back and attempt to correct your information or
choose a different payment method.”
But my average customer is not going to know that they need to “clear their cache/cookies” and then restart their browser. They are not going to go through all this trouble. If they can’t make a payment, they will just go to a website that is easier. Is this what I am supposed to tell all the people to come to my website? This seems to be unacceptable.
This seems like something 2checkout.com should fix or get with the Mastercard auth people for them to fix.

The 2Checkout purchase routine will accept MasterCard when using the Firefox browser.
The authorization failure error you are seeing is dependent on the card being used and based on a response from the issuing bank. If the MasterCard is linked to the Secure Code service which MasterCard provides, it is possible that your Firefox browser is blocking this pop-up or the Bank’s Secure Code implementation is not working as expected with Firefox.

Just to add: It’s definately a problem concerning some banks, not necessarely the service itself. Some banks might have popups, but mine redirected me to the bank’s “internet bank-service” or whatever. It was not a popup of anykind. Firefox didn’t redirect me anywhere. Also, I did remove all the cookies and I tried several times, during 2 months, to pay my order and I even renewed the order 3 times. So it’s not about the cookies at all in this case.
And I’m sure I typed the number correctly everytime, because I copy-pasted it from the netbank service.
But I’m sure you can work this out somehow.

Point taken (all of you):
I definitely agree that if we see this many posts in one month regarding the same issue we need to incorporate some dynamic messaging into the process so the “average customer” gets the info they need to complete the sale.
Thanks for the input and glad we were able to help.

I definitly have many customers who get the same error message. Some returning customers are even surprised that their cards are not accepted anymore while they used to have no problem with it before on 2checkout.

Just want to add that you guys had always done your best to try to fix things but you seem this time to not recognize that you definitely have issues with European customers cards since Q3/Q4 2008.

If you are receiving and Authorization Failed message when attempting to place an order you may want to try clearing the cookies in your web browser and then place a new order. More information on clearing the cookies can be found here.
