Achintha, it used to be their policy (or at least it wasn’t enforced) that you could have as many sites as you wanted on one account. They forced me to open 3 accounts instead of 1 because they don’t want to let you use your account for more that one web site.

This would be nice.. I currently just use paypal for my new sites because there is no hassle… I dont think we should have to have more then one account no matter how many websites we have… along with being charged a setup fee for each new 2co account we open.. This is a policy that should be changed all the way around.

Hello Achintha,
The purpose of our one URL per account policy is: 2CO acts as a reseller for our vendors. As a reseller, 2Checkout has specific guidelines that need to be followed, including accountability for products and services being sold. Accordingly, we have to know exactly what is being sold at all times. We accomplish this by being able to review the products listed on the site that is associated with each 2Checkout account. Currently our system does not support multiple URL entries on a single account. While we are currently discussing making this a possible option in the future, we cannot currently facilitate it.

Hi Jeanie,
I don’t want to sound critical, but… your explanation says that you need accountability and to know what is being sold. I would like to ask two separate questions:
1. How do you know what products are being sold on one site by one vendor?
2. And following from that, how would multiple sites by one vendor NOT allow you to know what is being sold?

1. All sites are manually reviewed. We know what our vendors are selling, because we actually look at their site and their sales.
2. It’s not exactly a matter of not knowing what’s being sold on multiple sites. It’s more a matter of how that information is handled. Like Jeanie said, we are discussing the possibility of adding a multiple domain feature in the future. The scenario I describe below addresses the way the current system works.
Let’s say we have a single supplier with a single 2CO account, but three different sites using that account. Two sites are amazing. They’re popular, they make a lot of sales, and they have very low fraud risk. The supplier and 2CO both benefit a lot from these first 2 sites, but let’s say the third site accidentally offers a prohibited product. We can’t sell the prohibited product, so we have to disable the account until the supplier removes it. Unfortunately, with the current system, this means the entire account, including the two good sites, would be disabled.
In the future, it may be possible to develop a system where suppliers can maintain multiple domains, each with their own status. That’s one of the possibilities we’re currently discussing.

I’m agree with “eoin”
How do you know what are the vendors sell?
2co supports shopping cart items.anyone can sell anything.
If we fill the multiple risk docs to multiple domains then it’s same as opening new vendor account as I think.
I believe lots of people choose alternatives who allows multiple domains in one account.
I think 2co have to think about this and 2co can give good competition with other companies.because main payment processing companies still support only to selected countries.

It’s good to understand the thinking behind having separate accounts.
The potential implementation of a system with multiple accounts would be a good solution.
In the meantime, it’s annoying having to send in a risk document for each new account, plus pay $30.

I like the idea of separate accounts for each url and I think the reason given is why. It makes perfect sense to me.
Keep up the good work 2CO.

How about having it where you pay like $200 instead of $50 setup fee…and you get to use the account on multiple domains…That would be a good idea….

I’ve forgot about rule “1 account = 1 domain” and bought multiple domains to create specialized sites for various goods I’m selling.
Now looking for another payment gateways for these new domains because it took 2 months to confirm my account with 2CO - for sure I don’t want to repeat that procedure + I don’t want to have multiple shops on various accounts (statistic will be too difficult to track).

3dom, 2 months is an exceptionally long time to have to wait to confirm an account. I’m not sure which account is yours, but there must have been some extenuating circumstances. I apologize for any delay you experienced. Regardless, vendors who have an existing account with us normally have their new accounts approved right away.
If you obtain new 2Checkout accounts, please email the account numbers (including your existing one) to risk@2co.com and we will gladly expedite the review procedure for you.
