In the process of revamping the affiliate program, can you please make affiliate links able to point to the seller’s website home page?
When links go directly to 2CO’s shopping cart, we (sellers) miss out on a lot. Our tracking programs are completely left out of the loop because the visitor never lands on our sites.
We are unable to make upsells on order pages or offer special deals to visitors before they reach the checkout page. (And more.)
Your serious consideration of this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have moved your post to our Features Request forum.

I COMPLETELY agree with this change. I’m looking for affiliates and JV partners to promote my product and the inability to send them to my sales page is hurting completely.
I hope this change is made quickly.

Can I have an update on this request, please? This is a very serious issue for me. I did not understand that affiliates could not link to my sales page with an html link before signing up. This issue has pretty much halted my affiliate sales because nobody gets to ready the copy/information about my products. They are just shoved straight into the shopping cart. They miss the entire sales process.
I LOVE almost everything else about 2CO (especially the service), but this affiliate issue and the shipping wizard are the 2 things that – IMO – need serious work.
Every other affiliate program I’ve seen allows affiliates to create links that point to sales pages. I’m not a programmer, but I have to believe that it can’t be that hard to do.
Thanks!

Hi marketingwords,
We will be addressing your request and working on building this feature. This is one feature that has been requested by our affiliate vendors many times over. When I have more details about the release date for this feature I will come back and let you know.
At this point we plan on providing suppliers with a script that will set the affiliate cookie on a customers browser and forward them to a specified URL so they can review the products on your site. I am curious if you have any other feedback regarding this type of feature so if you do please reply and share it with me.

Thanks for the update. As you can tell, I need this affiliate change to happen pretty quickly
With a script? Do you mean a link? I’d like my affiliates to be able to create a link they can use on their websites, in articles, attached to images of my products, etc. Usually affiliate links look like some sort of code. For instance:
http://2a483hwwz2u7ql2d87x-vdgi1x.2CO.copywritingcourse.net/
Or whatever. Then the affiliate can use this link on their sites, their ezines, twitter, whatever.
Yes, it would be nice to be able to choose whether the customer lands on the home page of the site or a specific product page. That would be great!

Is this script available? If not, when do you anticipate releasing such a script?
Launching an affiliate program would easily double or triple my current sales, but I cannot and will not do this until affiliate links redirect to my product sales page.
Hope this is resolved ASAP.

The feature Joel was describing is currently in development along with many other new features in our totally redesigned affiliate program. We do not have an exact release date for the redesigned affiliate program but we are planning to release it during the first half of 2010. As always, we will announce any new information on this feature on our community as it becomes available.
