I’m interested in using 2CO’s services sometime from now.
I understand that when a customer purchases something, 2CO will verify the customer’s payment details.
What I want: a way to automatically determine when the customer’s payment is verified as good, so that I can *automatically* make the customer’s order a “pending shipment” in my database. What is the recommended way of doing this? I am asking this as a website developer.
Perhaps this is something that becomes obvious once I pay the $49 setup fee and go through the setup, but I want to know how this works before paying anything. Thanks.

Hmm, there is the ‘pending url’ and the ‘approved url’ as stated here: http://www.2checkout.com/community/?p=211
I’m guessing that I can use cookies in combination with the approved url, but is there a more foolproof way?
Also, regarding the “pending url”, I guess that if the customer’s payment is ever approved after all, the vendor (me) will have to manually check the order to see if it should be put into my “pending shipments.” Is that so?
If I am misguided in my thinking here, then I would appreciate a little guidance. Thanks.

The “approved” and “pending” url’s are actually the page(s) that a customer will be redirected to upon completion of the order. These are supplied by the supplier and generally will lead to a thank you page or in some instances to a download link.
On all credit card orders the order is either approved or declined by the issuing bank at the time the order is placed. Generally, the “Pending” url is only used on orders placed with online checks, as the funds aren’t instantly approved for transfer to 2Checkout.com. When the funds are received for online check orders, the supplier is notified via email.
When an order is initially placed, 2Checkout.com receives an approval from the issuing bank for charge. The order will than be placed through our Fraud review process. Generally, the fraud review will take 6 to 24 hours. After the Fraud review of the order has been completed, the supplier will be sent an automated fraud batch email with the status of all orders for the supplier during that batching period. Orders will be in one of three states: Approved, the order has passed the fraud review and the order may be fulfilled. Wait, this means we have determined there is a possibility of the order being fraudulent and we are attempting to confirm the order was placed by the card holder, the supplier will want to wait to fulfill the order until they receive notification the order has passed the fraud review. or, Failed, this means the order was deemed fraudulent and the order was canceled, suppliers won’t need to take further action on failed orders.
You would be able to develop a reader program to read the fraud review emails and update the information in your shipping data base. Please note, suppliers will not want to fulfill orders until the fraud review has been completed.

Can the 2checkout.com modify its order status arrangement so that the ‘Approved’ status will not be issued so early?
We are now selling Egoods which will be immediately available to customers for download when our shopping cart detected the ‘Approved’ status issued from the 2checkout.com. In fact, the so called ‘Approved’ status is not an approved one! The 2checkout.com still needs 6-24 hours for fraudulent check before confirming the order. As a result, it is not safe for us to deliver goods at the ‘Approved’ stage. At the time when we were notified that the order has failed at the fraud review, our goods have already been delivered.
Would the 2checkout.com consider adding a stage, say ‘preliminary approval’ stage, before the ‘Approval’ stage? Customers will not get our product downloaded at this stage. They can only download our egoods when the ‘preliminary approval’ status has changed to the ‘approval’ status when the 2checkout.com completed the fraud review process. No ‘approval’ status will be issued by the 2checkout.com when the payment could not pass the fraud review process. Under this arrangement we will reduce the risk of loss.
Please advise whether this arrangement can be done by the 2checkout.com. Thanks.

@mydlstore – The Approved status that a sale is given means that the credit card was approved by the bank. This is the first step in the credit card transaction process. Once the credit card company gives us the approval for the sale then it is considered approved by our system. It is true that this sale might be a fraudulent sale and it may get refunded. Because of this we do not recommend that you provide the product to your customer until the sale has cleared the fraud review. Please note that even if we did have a ‘preliminary approval’ stage your scripts that allow your product to be downloaded would have no way of knowing when this status changed. You would not know that the sale passed our fraud review until an email was sent to you, just as one is now when your sale completes this process. If you wish to reduce your risk of loss then you will need to wait until the sale has cleared the fraud check and then provide the download links to your customers.
