the parameter “vendor_order_id” was always being passed back as null, just wonderig if this is still the same.

The vendor_order_id parameter is passed back correctly as long as the value is passed into the purchase routine using the merchant_order_id parameter (50 characters max). We apologize for the confusion. We are currently working to update this information in our INS documentation.
