Hi…
For off, let me say that I love 2checkout. You guys seem to only hear the complaints, so I just wanted to pat you guys on the back.
My question: is there a way to disable the requirement having the buyer input his mailing address for intangible products?
My products are digital and my customers are used to just submitting their name and credit card card info.
I got an email today from one of my customers. He said that although he completed the transaction, he almost didn’t because he was forced to enter in his mailing address. And for a intangible product, this just didn’t seem neccessary to him.
That got me thinking: how many other potential buyers are put off by this requirement and just don’t complete the transaction?
Is there a way to disable the mailing address requirement?
Joe

2Checkout does not require the shipping address on intangible products but we do require that the customer enter their billing address on all orders. The billing address is necessary to cross reference with with credit card to ensure that the card holder is placing the order.

Joe,
Thanks for the pat on the back!
I want to expand upon Craig’s statement:
The more info we get at the point of sale the better job we can do at detecting fraud. Address verification is a relatively old component of fraud screening and, while not infallible in and of itself, certainly lends itself to the process as a good piece of information to have.
Craig is correct that this is required as part of the credit card authorization process as well. We shouldn’t be asked for a mailing address. The request should be for the cardholder’s address.
I hope this helps and you can contact our Fraud Department at any time for more info on how 2CO works for you to ensure the most good orders get through while stopping fraud as quickly as possible.

It would be great craig if there was a paramter that we could set in thr payment routine to be able to pass you the shipping/billing address while hiding it from the payment pages for clients and thus reducing the number of checkout steps.

You can pass the billing and shipping information into our system and while it will not completely skip the steps, it will pre-populate the information so the customer does not need to enter it again on our purcahse pages.
For the names of the parameters that you must use to pre-populate the fields please refer to the article that details the parameter set you are using. This would be either the 2Checkout plug and play parameters, the 2Checkout 3rd party cart parameters or our authorize.net parameters.
