Request invoice in custom currency

Hi,

My 2CO account is in Euros - I’d forgotten about that and just closed a deal with the price quoted in GBP.

Without changing my account to GBP, is there any way to create an invouce or payment link for a specified amount in a specified currency (i.e. without converting it to an amount in Euros).

BTW - I was on the phone to vendor support earlier. They really are a pleasure to speak to and a credit to 2CO :)

Hi bobs12 - Currently when you send the invoice the system will still read the currency your account is set to display prices in. We do not currently provide a way to set the invoice in a separate currency. I will forward this suggestion to our developers so it can be discussed.

Also, thank you for the kind words regarding our support team.

Why don’t you just explain to your customer that your system is setup in another currency and that you have done the proper conversion and adjusted the total in their invoice?

You can make comments in your invoice, so explain it fully and I’m sure your client won’t have any issue.

Just my two cents….

The problem would be the difference between 2CO rates and those available to the general public - I think customers could be confused and bewildered. As I am.

Basically, if my calculations are right, on a 1000 GBP transaction I would stand to make an extra $100 if I charged in USD at the publicly available rate (e.g. from xe.com) instead of 2CO’s rate.

But if the customer switched to GBP on the payment page, they’d be shocked to discover that I was charging them more.

Sadly, quoting and charging in USD is not a viable option for me.

Wait, I’m confusing myself. That’s a slightly different problem.

What I mean to say is that I would have to use the 2CO exchange rate so that if/when the customer changed to their own currency, they would see the correct amount.

And it’s just a bit of a hassle to work out the 2CO rate and then calculate, and then check…

Also with rates changing all the time… ahhhhh I give up and go to drink coffee.

Joel, any chance of 2CO writing a short guide to how to make the best out of taking payments in different currencies?
