I want to start a online laptop rental business.
The customer rents it out on a weekly basis. For example: They pay $50 a week to rent the laptop. They get charged as soon as they checkout on my website (using 2checkout). But, if they are late returning the laptop, I will charge them a late fee of $10 a day. Will I be able to do this with 2checkout?

Unfortunately, no. There’s no direct enforceable way to apply a late fee. It’s possible to set a startup fee and even a negative startup fee, for a recurring payment, but that only applies to the first payment. There’s no way to automatically apply a fee to a sale after the first two payments.

Ah gotcha. So that means I could do this: Setup the one time set up fee for negative -$50 and the recurring weekly fee as $50. When they first order the rental laptop, they are charged essentially $0. But after a week they will be billed $50.
Just one question.. could they stop the recurring? I want to make sure they can’t just incase they keep the camera for another week or two.

Not exactly. It’s not possible to charge $0. There must be an initial charge and you’ll want to allow for our transaction fees.
It’s also possible for the customer to stop the recurring. We don’t currently have built-in functionality for the desired behavior.
I’m going to request that a member of our Risk Department take a look at this thread to see if policy-wise we could accept rentals like this, before researching possible technical solutions and possibly making this a feature request.
