Checkout pages

A few issues.

I just tested out a recurring payment.

1) Why does the ”Update” button take you to the next page (checkout) instead of updating the cart? It even says ”Checkout” in the tooltip.

2) Why does the ”Continue shopping button” have an arrow pointing to the ”Hacker Safe” logo?

3) Where can we access the exchange rates that your system is using? I run my account in Euros. I just made my first recurring product for a US customer and converted the 30USD price to Euros according to exchange rates on XE.com before entering the details.

At the payment page, when I click the US flag, I find that the price is $28.95 – quite a long way off the expected $30. That’s a difference of 3.33%.

Who’s wrong? XE.com or 2CO?

Can anyone else check for disparity between actual exchange rates and 2CO’s? Otherwise you can be giving your customers an automatic 3.3% discount without knowing about it :0

I actually noticed a while ago that the USD price for the only item I sell (at 10EUR) varied quite dramatically. Perhaps the reason was people selecting different currencies and not the volatile exchange rate…!

2Checkout – can you please give some information about how your system converts currencies at the purchase page? I would be very interested to know.

1. We’ve been unable to reproduce this problem so far. Please open a support ticket for assistance. The support ticket system usually gets responses faster than these forums.

2. It doesn’t intend to point to the Hacker Safe logo. It’s symbolically pointing back to your site.

3. Please see the following articles and forum thread:

How does 2CO determine the foreign exchange rate used for currency conversion?

Why are these rates different from the rates I see in the newspaper?

1) Interestingly, I just tried it in Firefox and it doesn’t seem to do that.

Please try following the link from http://en.interlingua.co.uk/ztmc.html using IE6, I find that the problem is still there.

Clicking ’update’ takes the browser to https://www.2checkout.com/2co/buyer/purchase

2) I find that the page looks confusing – the 2Checkout button looks more like a logo. It’s still not clear where to click to continue the purchase process (even though there are two buttons that do it ;) .

There are arrows everywhere that attract attention – the only button I want my customers to click doesn’t have an arrow.

When people get to 2CO from my site, that’s the end of the process. If they go back to ’continue shopping’, their cart is already locked and they can’t get the link to go back to 2CO again. This is to help reduce the chance of them going back and changing the cart contents before making payment. However, I feel sure it could catch out innocent, unsavvy users and it’s the biggest button with the biggest arrow on it.

How about something symbolically pointing to the stage where people have to part with money? :)

Grrrrrrr.

3) Thanks :) Any chance of getting the currency info in XML format?

In the near future I will need to bill again in USD, so an XML feed of the curency rates would be just ideal for making a link that uses the latest rate just before the customer goes to checkout. I like the solution posted in that thread, but my experience of parsing plain text/html to extract data is that it can go horribly wrong. An XML page with that info would be easy to make. Please? :)

1. Our developers are aware of this issue and will resolve it in the near future.

2. Thanks for the feedback. As previously stated, the transaction pages are currently under review/research. Unfortunately, I cannot yet say what changes will be made when.

3. I’ll pass your recommendation on to our developers for their consideration.
