I can hardly believe what this message from 2CO says:
”This order is being canceled because the billing information and phone number fields are blank. The customer will need to place a new order and enter their full details. Thanks La Shona Fraud Department”
I can’t believe that. A form with required fields left blank gets through the ordering process???
BTW, the email adress is obviously bogus, too.
Why shouldn’t it be? Now crooks get the download link right off the 2CO web page, so they don’t have to provide a valid (non-anymous) email address to get their stuff. Or an address.
Why doesn’t 2CO just come out and tell us it is not for intangible goods anymore?
I’m still in a state of shock. This is no security at all.

PS
Woever did that probably lurks in the vendors forum to learn these tricks. No one but vendors should be allowed in.

katyk333 – I apologize for the inconvenience. Our development team is currently attempting to discover the reason why a small number of sales are being presented in our system without the customers information attached. This is an extremely rare occurrence. The customer of this sale did fill out all the forms on the purchases pages, there is no trick to get around this. The issue happens after the sale is placed and this customer may have been a valid customer. The customers information should be present in the sale email that was sent to you, I recommend contacting that customer and asking them to place the order again. If you do happen to see this issue on your account again please forward the sale number to our technical support team through our ticket system so we can forward the sale to our developers.

The email address sounds phony, but I will give it a try. The customer’s other information was not in that email.
The answers I’ve gotten from tech support dance lively around the subject basically saying that 2CO just doesn’t make sure the form is properly completed. That is unaccaptable.
It is breathtakingly reckless of what happens to the vendor! It gives new meaning to the phrase that 2CO ”couldn’t care less” about us. It says, ”All we care about is not charging stolen cards so the credit card companies don’t nick us for it. But we couldn’t care less and won’t even demand a valid order form to help keep our vendors from getting ripped off.
And now that you deliver the download link immediately, they needn’t even give a valid email address.
I really hope your version of the situation is the true one. That it is rare and that 2CO is trying to stop these orders. That I can accept. The other version I cannot.

katyk333 – I apologize if you received any incorrect information. I can confirm to you that the version of the problem that I presented is the accurate definition of the problem. While we are not able to confirm the customer is entering their real phone number or real email address on the form we do require the information to be entered in the form before we allow them to continue to the next step in the purchase process.
